A rare Egyptian note sold for £ 41,000

On 14th April 2014 a National Bank of Egypt, specimen proof 10 Pounds, 1946 was sold for a whooping 41,000 pounds. This note on the obverse has the portrait of King Farouk at right, Arabic serial number 187654, Arabic signature, and the value in Arabic numerals in three corners. The reverse depicts the beautiful ruins at Karnak, sphinx at left and right, one punch hole.

This extremely rare, probably unique, note was prepared for issue but never released, as King Farouk overthrown in the revolution on 23 July 1952.
